Child & Family Activity Day 2026, hosted by Yakama Nation CCDF was a day filled with laughter, learning, and the spirit of community. Families gathered to spend time together, watch their children play, and connect with programs that support and uplift our people.
"I had a really good time getting to hang out with the kids again—it was honestly nice seeing them outside of the office and finally putting faces to the names I recognize from my work with CCDF. I see a lot of these names every day, so that part was really cool.
At our booth, we were showing families how to make homemade playdough, and the kids had a lot of fun mixing colors and getting creative with it. It was just a really good moment—seeing everyone learning, laughing, and enjoying themselves.”
— Rosana Mendez, CCDF Learning Coach
This special day was made possible through the collaboration of many dedicated programs, including Foster Care, Growth by Design, Head Start, the Nutrition Program, the Yakama Nation Language Program, and Wakishwi just to name a few. Each brought something meaningful—whether it was resources, cultural teachings, or opportunities for families to grow stronger together.
Children moved from booth to booth with excitement, enjoying activities while learning in ways that felt natural and fun. At the same time, families were able to connect with services, ask questions, and build relationships with the people and programs here to support them.
Moments like these remind us of who we are as a community—strong, connected, and rooted in caring for one another and for our future generations. Seeing our children smile, learn, and be surrounded by support is what it’s all about.
We raise our hands in gratitude to everyone who showed up, shared their time, and helped make this day possible. Events like this continue to carry forward our values, our culture, and our commitment to the next generation.
"Our 1st Annual Week of the Young Child celebration was held on April 17th, bringing together 12 programs and 85 children and families. The event was an opportunity to celebrate young children and strengthen connections among the programs that serve families in our community"
